About the position

Location: Queens, New York — United States Intended start date: June 18, 2025 Student ages: 14-18 Time Commitment: The employment period for EFL Teachers can range from 1 to 8 weeks during the summer, depending on the needs of the campus and employee availability. Most instructors teach for 2-6 weeks. In the application, there is space to indicate and explain your availability during the summer months. Kids Duo — English Teaching in Japan

Kids Duo is an after-school/preschool that represents a fresh new approach to the language learning process, focusing on creating a solid foundation of enthusiasm and self-confidence in speaking via interactive games and activities. They offer a fully immersive English environment at its core, and organizes classes of mixed skill levels and age groups. Through their motto is “Play in English, Learn in English,” they strive to create a fun, safe, and comfortable environment in which their students learn usable, real life English – often without even realizing it. Kids Duo is currently looking for more qualified teachers to join their team.

About the Position:

Location: They have schools all over Japan, and each area offers different opportunities for teachers. Scope: Full-time Contract duration: Minimum one-year contract which can be renewed based on job performance Class size & ages: Expect to conduct activities with both large and small groups (sometimes as many as 30 or more students) of children ages 3-12. Working hours: Regular working hours fall within the hours of 9:00-20:30, typically Monday through Friday. Shifts are 9 hours per day (8 working hours with a 1-hour lunch break). Teachers also participate in occasional special events held on Saturdays & Sundays, including open schools, spelling bees, and recitals. Duties:
  • Kids Duo teachers take turns leading and supporting a variety of highly active games and activities, including Arts & Crafts, Music & Dance, Science, Social Studies, and Teachers Choice.
  • While a set curriculum and lesson plans for main activities are provided, teachers are expected to grow and expand on these foundations with their own unique and original games and lesson ideas; allowing ample creative freedom to personalize your teaching approach and inject passion and enthusiasm into your class.
  • In addition to conducting and supporting lessons, teachers are expected to model proper behavior and life skills, play with students in between programs, help with school events, field trips, seasonal events, etc.

Benefits & Compensation:

  • Base salary starts at ¥250,000~270,000 depending on experience.
  • Teachers receive fully-paid comprehensive initial training, during which accommodation and transportation reimbursement can be provided if necessary.
  • Usable and transferable experience & skills gained via regular teaching workshops held throughout the year.
  • 10 paid days of leave per year (after 6 months of employment), in addition to national holidays.
  • Work-related commuting costs reimbursed.
  • Social Security & Health Insurance provided.
  • Visa sponsorship and renewal support available.

Job requirements:

They are looking for new teachers who:
  • Are Native English Speakers*
  • Have at least a 2-Year Associates Degree OR Valid Working Visa
  • Are independent and creatively minded, ready to innovate and adapt in any circumstance
  • Can be team-oriented, passionate, enthusiastic, and creative in your approach to teaching children
  • Have a strong sense of professionalism, and are self-motivated
  • Prior experience with children (teaching or otherwise) is preferred
*Their curriculum puts emphasis on pronunciation and phonics practice. While they of course welcome English speakers from a variety of countries with varying dialects and accents, they ask that you are able to effectively teach and express these concepts in a phonetically natural English environment.
