About the position

Most of their students are Sri Lankan, however, there are students from Korea, Japan, China, India, Thailand, Taiwan, Myanmar, Vietnam, Turkey, the Middle East….the list goes on!

  • They enroll their employees in the company's social insurance system (shakai hoken), including subsidized health insurance and pension.
  • They usually pay a full and not pro-rated salary for months with school holidays, such as April, July, December, January & March, while they guarantee at least 65% of the regular salary for August during the long summer vacation. They do not force their employees to take a pay cut in other months to get paid for August. Of course, those that work a full schedule in August get paid a full salary then too.
Joytalk also provides ongoing teacher training with workshops held a number of times throughout the year, including prior to the start of the assignment and reimbursement for work transportation costs. They support their ALTs not only in teaching, but also in all aspects of life in Japan, 24 hours a day, including problems of any size, negotiations, accidents, emergencies, etc.

Students: Learners range from absolute beginner to advanced. Class types: They focus on three types of programs: adult clients, children’s programs, and corporate programs. Some of their teachers work primarily in a specific area, while others teach a mixture of these classes. Adults study General English, Conversation, or preparation courses for TOEIC, IELTS, and TOEFL exams. Class size: Classes are of a standard size and have a maximum of 12 students, though the current average is 6-8 students.

Benefits

Teachers at EduFirst Language School are offered the following benefits: Part-time position:
  • 390 – 450 baht per hour for inside work,
  • 500 – 600 baht per hour for outside corporate work.
  • Many outside contracts have a travel allowance. This increases every twelve months for teachers meeting requirements.
  • This is part-time position but long term employment, more teaching hours are possible.
Teachers may choose what level of work they are willing to accept. Full-time position:
  • 24 contact teaching hours a week,
  • Salary guaranteed minimum 42,000 – 44,000 per month
  • Completion bonus at the end of a one-year contract
  • Medical insurance
  • Work permit
Some teachers may choose to work more hours, they can then expect to earn 50,000 – 55,000 baht a month.

Requirements

To teach at EduFirst Language School, you need to be able to meet the following requirements:
  • Native qualified English speakers from UK, US, Australia, NZ, and Canada
  • University degree
  • TEFL/CELTA/TESOL certificate
  • At least one year teaching experience
