Modulo Language School – Teach English in Thailand

Founded in 2013, Modulo has grown from a single school in Central Plaza Rama 9, to five branches around Bangkok’s bustling city centre. They are currently looking for qualified, enthusiastic, energetic, and eager top-talent English teachers determined to learn, improve, and deliver the absolute best lessons to students of all ages and levels.

About the Position:

  • Location: Bangkok - Thailand
  • Lessons: 110-130 lessons/month
  • Scope: Full-time with a flexible schedule
  • Class size: 95%+ of their classes are private one-on-one.
  • Student age: All ages (the majority of the students are adults).
  • Student level: All levels (A1-C2)
  • Class types: All objectives — general communication, business language, academic test prep, etc.
  • Contract length: 12 months long and renewable
Teaching schedule:
  • Teachers must be available to work both weekends and evenings (especially new employees). You will teach lessons until 9 pm on Monday to Friday, which means you must be comfortable working into the evening. Classes finish earlier on weekends, and they don’t start very early either. However, there’s no need to stay at school when not teaching.
  • Modulo is open all year long, except for Thai national holidays, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. That’s a total of 20 days off throughout the year.
  • Teachers may select a light (5 lessons over 7 hours), standard (6 lessons over 8 hours), or heavy (7 lessons over 9 hours) schedule.
  • For those who prefer a more common work-life balance, the standard is 5 working days per week. For those keen to make more, they also offer 6-day working weeks.
  • Teachers receive two consecutive days off, and they are the same days every week.
Training and probation:
  • Paid initial training, going through the fundamental skills necessary to be a successful teacher at Modulo.
  • A 90-day probation period, with evaluations and sharing of ideas, techniques, and tools.
  • Regular observations, with a focus on constructive criticism and ways of improving.

Location: Various locations across Thailand Working conditions:
  • Teaching hours range from 15-20 hours a week.

English being the medium of instruction, INTERLINK International Institutes provides an intensive foundation-year English language program to prepare students for academic studies at the University.   • Qassim: In Qassim, INTERLINK supports high-achieving students at MKSGT, a selective high school for gifted and talented learners preparing for studies at highly selective global universities, and at MKTVTC, where students are trained for direct entry into the workforce. In both institutions, INTERLINK provides intensive English instruction and academic orientation grounded in transformative, project-based learning.
Responsibilities — Full-time instructors are expected to:
  • Teach in all skill areas (20-24 contact hours per week)
  • Work on curriculum review and communicate with the INTERLINK leadership team on a regular basis
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and student/program activities, including periodic professional training, student orientation, placement testing, and related tasks, always being mindful of student/client success and satisfaction
  • Participate in meetings (with students, peers, parents, and others)
  • Do student-advising, record-keeping, and report-writing
  • Keep office hours for advising and counseling students
  • Serve on committees and participate in on- and off-campus activities

Requirements

  • A genuine commitment to the humanistic teaching philosophy espoused by INTERLINK
  • A master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, TEFL, or in a related field with a CELTA/DELTA OR TEFL Certificate (120 hrs) from an accredited institution
  • Familiarity with recent, learner-centered approaches to language acquisition
  • Superior communication skills – both in speaking and writing
  • Two or more years of relevant ESL/EFL teaching experience with adult learners
  • Strong interest in and ability to adjust to a new culture where the way of life requires sensitivity, understanding, conformity, and flexibility
Preference will be given to candidates with:
  • Experience teaching and/or experience living in another culture
  • Peace Corps or other humanitarian volunteer/service/work experience
  • Background in English for Specific Purposes Experience in teacher training and STEAM, and familiarity with IB or AP curricula (for the MKSGT program)
  • Fluency in other languages
  • Current residency in Saudi Arabia with a transferable Iqama
