Founded in 2013, Modulo has grown from a single school in Central Plaza Rama 9, to five branches around Bangkok’s bustling city centre. They are currently looking for qualified, enthusiastic, energetic, and eager top-talent English teachers determined to learn, improve, and deliver the absolute best lessons to students of all ages and levels.

About the Position:

  • Lessons: 110-130 lessons/month
  • Scope: Full-time with a flexible schedule
  • Class size: 95%+ of their classes are private one-on-one.
  • Student age: All ages (the majority of the students are adults).
  • Student level: All levels (A1-C2)
  • Class types: All objectives — general communication, business language, academic test prep, etc.
  • Contract length: 12 months long and renewable
  • Teaching schedule:
    • Teachers must be available to work both weekends and evenings (especially new employees). Westgate — Young Learners & Secondary School Positions in Japan Fall 25 Term

Westgate is accepting applications from overseas and from inside Japan for the in-class teaching positions of their Young Learners English Program, and Secondary School English Program.

About the Young Learners and the Secondary School English Programs

In the Young Learners and the Secondary School English Programs, Westgate entrusts you with the responsibility of being the sole instructor in the classroom. You have an opportunity to create a nurturing study environment for students at the beginning of their journey into English. It's an exciting challenge that immerses you in the Japanese school system while expanding your teaching skills. Location: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture Contract:
  • Year-long: From mid-August to mid-August of the following year
  • Term-based: From mid-August to late March
In lessons on both the Young Learners and Secondary School English Programs, the Westgate instructor is the sole instructor in the classroom (i.e. these are not ALT positions). Class Size: Approximately 15-20 students Students: Teaching students ages 7 through 18. Teaching schedule: They can only offer positions which cover the full Monday-Friday working week, i.e., there are no positions for those who are only available for certain hours or on certain days of the week. Working days at their client schools start at 8:00am and finish between 4:30pm and 5:00pm.
  • Instructors on the Young Learners English Program typically teach up to ten 20-minute lessons per day.
  • Instructors on the Secondary School English Program typically teach up to six 50-minute lessons per day.

Qualification requirements

  • University graduate with a bachelor's and/or more advanced degree and one of the following:
    • 500+ hours of actual EFL/ESL classroom teaching experience along with EFL/ESL teaching certificate and/or elementary/primary/secondary teaching credentials/qualifications
    • 1000+ hours of actual EFL/ESL classroom teaching experience in lieu of teaching certificate or credentials/qualifications
  • Some classroom teaching experience with young learners (for Young Learners positions)
  • No Japanese language ability is required.
  • Non-EFL/ESL teaching experience may be considered.

Technical requirements:

Instructors will need to use their own computers to work and teach during their employment with Westgate. Occasionally, they are required to bring their own laptop to the campus. In order for instructors to be able to work smoothly through Westgate’s IT system, the following hardware requirements would need to be met:
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 or higher; Apple M1 Chip or higher
  • Memory: 8GB or higher
  • Internet speed: 10Mbps or faster with a stable connection
  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11(Home or Pro) Version 23H2 or newer; Apple macOS Sonoma 14.7.5 or newer. Official support for Windows 10 ends on October 14, 2025. The use of Windows 10 will therefore not be permitted by Westgate from the beginning of the Fall 2025 term (i.e. from August/September) due to security concerns. (Instructors who use another OS would need to check with us for confirmation about whether that OS is acceptable or not.)
  • Browser: Microsoft Edge; Google Chrome latest version; Apple Safari 18 or newer
  • Valid and active anti-virus software
  • Web camera and microphone
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
Instructors must agree to install applications that are required by Westgate.
