About the Position:
New hires will become part of a small team of 4 or 5 teachers at each school, working together to help their kids have fun, learn English, and build confidence in their language skills! Kohgakusha encourages their teachers to try new approaches, with all teachers having the freedom to plan their own lessons and tailor them to their students’ needs while being guided by their overall curriculum.
🏫 Location: Tokyo, Kanto — Japan
They have ten schools based in the Kanto area surrounding Tokyo, all within 30 minutes to an hour of travel to central Tokyo. Each school has a small team of native teachers, and bilingual Japanese staff who are always there to offer support.

- Tamagawa-Jyosui (Tokyo, Tama Monorail/Seibu-Haijima Line)
- Center-Minami (Kanagawa, Yokohama City Subway)
- Shin-Koshigaya (Saitama, Musashino/Tobu-Isesaki Line) — This location also offers English afterschool activities.
📕 Class types:
- Infant or Adult classes (3~4 students)
- Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior Highschool (5~8 students)
💼 Work conditions:
- 5 days/week (Sunday and one other day per week)
- Availability to work on Saturdays is highly desirable
- 8 hours/day (ex: 9am to 5pm, 1pm to 9pm)
- Shifts are regular, and determined by the lesson schedule
Benefits:
Kohgakusha provides training, longer vacations (Golden Week, Winter holidays etc.), salary does not change from month to month, and help to pay for Japanese classes. Teachers take care of their own regular classes and students. They also have seasonal events, trips, and a lot of fun!
Benefits Package:
- Employees receive a fixed monthly salary of between JPY245,000 and JPY285,000 per month
- Health insurance is provided
- An evaluation-based bonus is given after completing your contract
- Time Off: Two days a week, Golden Week, National Holidays, Summer Vacation, Winter Vacation, and 10 paid vacation days
- Japanese language education allowance: They encourage teachers to have a better understanding of Japanese language and culture by subsidizing partial tuition fees for Japanese language school
- An additional monthly allowance is given to all teachers who have passed JLPT N3, N2 or N1!
- Commuting costs to and from your place of work will be fully reimbursed.
- In cases where an employee’s working schedule exceeds their designated schedule, an overtime allowance is also provided.

Requirements:

- Love working with kids
- Bachelors degree or at least three years of working experience
- Native-level English speaker
- Energetic and enthusiastic
- An understanding of cultural differences
- Valid working visa*
- Available for an in-person interview in Japan
- Commitment to the position for at least one year
*Applicants who do not hold a working visa may be considered for advance recruitment ahead of the spring semester.
