About the Position

Teaching with Gaba means a professional work environment, motivated adult students, and a flexible schedule. Teach in a major metropolitan area in one of their locations in the Kanto, Kansai, and Chubu regions (including Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Osaka), in a stylish Gaba Learning Studio with the ability to design your own flexible schedule.

Gaba fosters an international environment with various options for certification and ongoing support. The learning studio environments are modern and professional. Gaba Instructors specialize in supporting adult learners of English to achieve their learning goals in a 1-to-1 lesson format.

Requirements

Gaba is seeking enthusiastic and unique individuals who possess the following to experience living and teaching in Japan with Gaba.

Preferred applicants will have:

  • A university degree
  • Solid people skills
  • Native-level English (all nationalities considered)
  • Prior ESL/EFL teaching experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Desire to live and work in Japan
  • TEFL/ TESOL certification or ESL experience preferred

Basic requirements:

  • Must have a fluent command of English (both spoken and written)
  • Must commit to at least one full six-month contract term
  • Must be available to attend three-day Initial Certification in full
  • Must be proficient using a computer

For applicants seeking Gaba visa sponsorship:

Gaba can provide a Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa which typically has a duration of one year for first-time holders.

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree (or above) from an accredited university where English was the medium of instruction OR three years of verifiable full-time ESL teaching experience
  • Newly sponsored instructors are expected to teach with Gaba for two full contract terms (i.e. 12 months)
  • Must meet the minimum earning requirements of 250,000 yen per month
  • Must show proof of enrollment in National Health Insurance at time of contract signing
