Communiqeh – Remote English Teacher (Intermediate to Advanced and Business English)

Communiqeh is a Canadian, online language learning company that supports Canadians in learning Canada’s official languages including English, French, and Indigenous languages and other languages that make up Canada’s diverse linguistic landscape.

They are now looking for more English teachers to teach intermediate to advanced English and business English to professional adults.

About the position

We are looking for exceptional communicators who know how to build strong relationships with people and who teach English-as-a-Second-Language, to teach Intermediate to Advanced English and Business English to professional adults.

Location: Remote

Scope: Part-time to Full-time (flexible hours)

Schedule: While teachers are free to set their own hours, we are in need of teachers to teach during business hours, Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time)

Student ages: 25 – 60 years

Responsibilities:

• Deliver private, 1:1 classes through video meetings
• Deliver customized, client-focused, conversation-based classes
• Have the knowledge, teaching experience, and flexibility to adapt lessons and answer spontaneous questions about English grammar and practical use in order to meet the client’s needs
• Create engaging and immersive learning experiences that are fun and motivate the client to continue learning

Requirements

We ask that candidates:

• Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residents of Canada
• Speak English as Mother Tongue (1st Language) and the language was learned in Canada (we are looking for the “neutral” Canadian accent)
• Have a 120-hour TESOL certification
• Have the ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week at least 3 days per week
• Possess a minimum of 3 years of work experience outside of teaching in any sector or field
• Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in:
  • 1) teaching Intermediate to Advanced English and Business English
  • 2) teaching adults
  • 3) customized, conversation-based classes
  • 4) language coaching (i.e. goal setting, motivation, and confidence building)

Assets (nice to have but not essential and candidates without will be considered):

• Ability to speak French at an Intermediate level (B1-B2 CEFR)
• College or university degree Corporate work experience
• Knowledge and experience in using AI for language learning

Technical Requirements:

• A laptop or personal computer less than 5 years old
• A strong and stable internet connection with download and upload speeds of at least 10 mbsp

Environmental Requirements: A quiet place to work where class time with clients will not be interrupted
